HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS PLAYED (YEARS & LETTERS EARNED): Tanner played football for four years earning two varsity letters. He  also played baseball for four years and earned three varsity letters.

HIGH SCHOOL HONORS, SPECIFY SPORT & YEAR: (ALL-CONFERENCE, DISTRICT,  ETC.): In football as a junior, Tanner was named as a first-team All-Mid-State League performer as well as a second-team All-Region selection. As a senior, Tanner was selected as a first-team All-Region pick and an honorable mention All-District pick. For his outstanding play as a senior, Tanner was selected to participate in the Licking County/Muskingum All-Star Game.
