Sophie Chacon enters her third overall season and first as an assistant women's volleyball coach at Baldwin Wallace University in 2025.  Chacon served as a graduate assistant for the past two seasons.

She came to Berea after graduating Summa Cum Laude with Bachelor of Science in biochemistry from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

While at Maryland Eastern Shore, Chacon appeared in 47 matches and recorded 606 assists, 47 kills, 32 service aces and three blocks.  She served as a team captain, was a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference All-Academic honoree and the President of the Chemistry Society.

Chacon began her career at the University of Texas at El Paso.  While at UTEP, she played in 17 matches and tallied 94 assists.  Chacon was a two-time Conference USA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll performer and Dean’s List Student.  She earned a Conference USA Commissioner’s Academic Medal in 2020.  She was a member of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.

Chacon played four years and was a four-year captain of volleyball at Franklin High School in El Paso, Texas.  She ranks second in school history for assists in a season and fifth all-time in assists in a career.  Off the court, Chacon was the Senior Class President and a member of the Student Council Executive Board, Mu Alpha Theta, and National Honor Society.
