ACADEMIC MAJOR: Pre-Physical Therapy

BW ATHLETICS INFORMATION:   Markema  Winters played three seasons of volleyball at Baldwin Wallace University (2011-2014) and earned three varsity letters.

VOLLEYBALL HONORS:  As a junior in 2013-2014, Markema was voted as the team's Most Improved Player. As a senior in 2014-2015, she was named to the All-Tournament Team at the season-opening Capital/Otterbein Classic.

GENERAL VOLLEYBALL INFORMATION: As a freshman in 2011-2012, Markema played her first season of volleyball and earned her first varsity letter. She played in one match and one set and recorded two kills, hit 1.000 and had one block. BW finished 18-13 overall. 

As a sophomore in 2012-2013, Markema did not play volleyball.

As a junior in 2013-2014, Markema played her second season of volleyball and earned her second letter. She played in 29 matches and 108 games and hit .191 with 203 kills, a team-leading 82 blocks and eight set assists. She was voted as the team's Most Improved Player. BW finished 11-18 overall.

As a senior in 2014-2015, Markema played her third season of volleyball and earned her third letter. She was named to the All-Tournament Team at the season-opening Capital/Otterbein Classic. She appeared in 55 matches and 196 sets. She hit .a career-high .257 with a team-leading 64 total blocks. She also had 163 kills, 13 digs and three set assists. BW finished 15-15 overall.

HOMETOWN & HIGH SCHOOL INFORMATION: Markema Winters grew up in Akron, Ohio and graduated from Firestone High School. 

Markema played volleyball for four years and earned three varsity letters. She also played basketball and lettered twice and competed in one season of track.

In volleyball, Markema was named honorable mention All-City as a freshman, second-team All-City as a sophomore and first-team All-City as a junior and senior. She named the Akron Firestone H.S. Best Blocker all four years, the Most Improved Player as a freshman and the Best Hitter as a junior and senior, and as the Best Server as a senior.
