Baldwin Wallace Announces its 2013 Football Schedule

BEREA, Ohio --  The 2013 Baldwin Wallace University football schedule features five home games, including two to be televised by FOX Sports, and the rugged and annual nine games against Ohio Athletic Conference competition. Each home game has a promotion attached.

The Yellow Jackets are coming off of a solid 7-3 season a year ago and have compiled a 22-8 mark in the past three seasons.  BW leads the all-time series against nine of its 10 opponents.  Twelve-year Head Coach John Snell '87, who has a 71-41 career mark, welcomes back 42 lettermen and 13 starters.

The Yellow Jackets open the season at Bluffton University on Saturday, September 14 at 1:30 p.m. This is the second game between the two schools in the 21st century, BW leads the all-time series, 3-0, and beat the Beavers a year ago at The George Finnie Stadium on Tressel Field, 45-13.

The Ohio Athletic Conference and home opener is Saturday, Sept. 21 in the 35th Annual Lee Tressel Shrine Classic and 25th Annual Cuyahoga Gold Bowl Trophy Game versus Cleveland cross-town rival John Carroll University at 6:00 p.m.  BW leads the all-time series against the Blue Streaks, 25-23-4, the Cuyahoga Gold Bowl series, 13-11, and won last year's nail-bitter, 32-28, at JCU. This also is the first of two games to be televsied by FOX Sports.

BW remains home on Saturday, Sept. 28 to host Muskingum University on Family & Community Day at Finnie Stadium and with a rare 2:00 p.m. kickoff. Usually the game follows the annual picnic, but this year the picnic follows the game versus the Fighting Muskies.  BW leads the all-time series against Muskingum, 41-13-2, and won 13-6 in overtime last season in New Concord.  You can learn more about Family and Community Day by logging on at http://www.b-wcommunity.net/page.aspx?pid=267&cid=2&ceid=231&cerid=0&cdt=9%2f28%2f2013.

The second away game occurs on Saturday, October 5 when BW plays a 7:00 p.m. night game at Otterbein University. The Cardinals were one of the three teams to beat BW a year ago while the Jackets returned the favor a year earlier when they won in Westerville, 27-21.  The Yellow Jackets lead the all-time series, 35-8-1.

BW will celebrate Homecoming and its second Fox Sorts TV game on Saturday, Oct. 12 when it hosts always-tough Ohio Northern University for a 2:00 p.m. kickoff.  BW has won three of the past five meetings against the Polar Bears, including a thrilling, 22-20, win last season in Ada, and leads the all-time series, 26-11-1.  You can learn more about Homecoming by logging on at http://www.b-wcommunity.net/page.aspx?pid=267&cid=2&ceid=232&cerid=0&cdt=10%2f12%2f2013.

On Saturday, Oct. 19, BW visits Wilmington, Ohio and Wilmington College for its final night game of the season with a 6:00 p.m. kickoff slated at Williams Stadium. BW has won the last four meetings with the Quakers, outscored Wilmington, 180-31, and lead the all-time series, 11-3.

BW celebrates Professor Appreciation Day on Saturday, Oct. 26 when it hosts Capital University, one of five OAC schools with a new head coach (also JCU, Marietta College, the University of Mount Union and Wilmington), at 1:30 p.m.  Although BW beat Capital, 39-16, in Columbus a year ago, the Crusaders were one of two teams to beat BW two years ago. The Yellow Jackets lead the all-time series, 33-11.

The Jackets travel to Marietta, Ohio to play the Pioneers on Saturday, November 2 at 1:30 p.m. at Don Drumm Field and in their second-to-last "road" game. BW has beaten Marietta six straight times and outscored the Pioneers, 225-65, as it has built a 30-5 series lead.

The final game away from the "friendly confines" on Finnie Stadium occurs on Saturday, Nov. 9 when BW visits Alliance to play defending Division III national-champion, the UNiversity of Mount Union at 1:30 p.m. at Mount Union Stadium. The Purple Raiders lead the all-time series, 29-21-1, and beat BW, 38-7, in Berea last season.

The final game of the regular season is on Saturday, Nov. 16 when BW hosts upstart and 2012 Division III playoff-participant Heidelberg University on Seniors' Day at Finnie Stadium at 1:30 p.m.  BW and Heidelberg participated in a classic OAC duel last fall in Tiffin with the Student Princes prevailing, 35-34.  BW has won two of the last three meetings, including back-to-back, 35-20 wins in 2010 and 2011, and the Yellow Jackets lead the all-time series, 46-20.  BW has played Heidelberg more than any other opponent in its history in the sport of football.
