UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University volleyball team dropped a three-set Ohio Athletic Conference match to cross-town rival John Carroll University in the Tony DeCarlo Varsity Center.
The Yellow Jackets (15-11, 3-3 OAC) were defeated by the Blue Streaks (19-5, 5-1 OAC), who have won five of their last seven matches, by scores of 24-26, 17-25 and 22-25.
Junior outside hitter
Anna Miley (West Salem/Northwestern) led the BW offensive attack with seven kills. Freshman middle hitter
Ellen Hawkins (Worthington/Thomas Worthington) recorded six kills and had two total blocks. Freshmen outside hitters
Melissa Metz (Medina/Our Lady of the Elms) and
Lauryn Wright (Orrville) each contributed five.
Sophomore
Sydney Robinson (Silver Lake/Cuyahoga Falls) and senior
Katie Primeau (Pemberville/Eastwood) set up the offense with 18 and 11 assists, respectively.
Sophomore libero
Arlayna Newcomer (Norwalk/St. Paul) and senior defensive specialist
Paige Pileski (Elyria) each led the defense with 10 digs.
Metz tallied seven.
BW is back in action on Saturday, October 28 when it travels to Westerville for an OAC match with Otterbein University in the Rike Center at 1 p.m. The next home match is on Tuesday, October 28 when the Yellow Jackets host the Ohio Northern University Polar Bears for an OAC match in the Ursprung Gymnasium at 7 p.m.
