BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University volleyball team splits a pair of matches on the final day of competition at the 16th Annual Marcia French Memorial Invitational in the Ursprung Gymnasium.
The 10-team invitational was again co-hosted along with Case Western Reserve University. John Carroll University was the invitational champion. Final results, scores and standings can be found on the invitational website at

The Yellow Jackets (5-4) defeated the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford (3-6) in straight sets by scores of 25-12, 25-22 and 25-16. BW then fell to Hiram (7-1) in straight sets by scores of 21-25, 16-25 and 14-25.
The Yellow Jacket offense was led by junior outside hitter
Anna Miley (West Salem/Northwestern), who was named to the all-tournament team, with 20 digs, including 12 against Pitt Bradford. Senior middle hitter
Markema Winters (Akron/Firestone) contributed 19 kills, including 10 against Pitt Bradford.

Katie Primeau (Pemberville/Eastwood) and sophomore setter
Sydney Robinson (Silver Lake/Cuyahoga Falls) set up the offense.
Primeau had 36 assists, including a game-high 22 against Pitt-Bradford.
Robinson contributed 19.
Sophomore libero
Arlayna Newcomer (Norwalk/St. Paul) led the Yellow Jacket as she had a 31 digs, including a game-high 20 digs against Pitt-Bradford. Freshman outside hitter
Melissa Metz (Medina/Our Lady of the Elms) tallied 17 in the two games.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Wednesday, September 10 when they travel to Steubenville to play Franciscan University in a non-conference match at 7 pm.
