Women's Volleyball Stings Allegheny (Pa.) in Three-Set Sweep

MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Baldwin Wallace University women's volleyball team defeated Allegheny (Pa.) College by a final score of 3-0 in a non-conference matchup in Performance Arena inside the David V. Wise Center.

BW (10-5) handed Allegheny (14-4) only its fourth loss of the season in straight sets as Head Coach Kate Latkovic earned her tenth career victory as the head of the women's volleyball program with many more 10-win seasons to come. 

BW Leaders

  • Junior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference setter Katarina Blazetic (DeLand, Fla.) recorded her 13th 30+ assist game of the season with a game-best 33 to extend her lead as the conference's assist leader. The next best player trails Blazetic by over 100 assists
  • Senior All-OAC outside hitter Sam Rueda (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley) was one dig shy of a double-double after recording nine digs and a game-high 12 kills on 27 attempts for a .333 hitting percentage 
  • Senior outside hitter Sydney Simonson (Sullivan/Black River) tied a season-best in kills with seven and also contributed four digs and two total blocks
  • Freshman middle hitter Josie Lynn (Wabash, Ind./Northfield) was also in double figures after tallying 11 kills and adding four total blocks for a team-high 13.5 points
  • Senior All-OAC libero and OAC Defensive Player of the Week Lauren Gardner (Avon/St. Joseph Academy) led the Brown and Gold defense with 18 digs as she now passes Reagan Pore '00 for fifth on BW's All-Time Digs Leaderboards
  • Junior Academic All-OAC outside hitter Gabby Schlecht (Naperville, Ill./North) led all players with four service aces and added four kills, seven digs, and two block assists
  • Senior outside hitter Brinn MacLellan (Novelty/Gilmour Academy) also added four kills and two block assists

  • Junior libero Jacy Diaz recorded a game-high 27 digs
  • Senior middle hitter Dagney Javes led all players with 13 kills
  • Junior setter Izzy Gray led the Gators with 19 assists
