ALLIANCE, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University women's volleyball team fell to the University of Mount Union in an Ohio Athletic Conference Matchup by a final score of 3-1 in Timken Gymnasium inside the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex.
BW (13-11, 2-4 OAC) headed into the match coming off two wins on Saturday against OAC opponent Wilmington College and Denison University. The spark continued throughout the first set with the Jackets hitting .378. But Mount Union (17-7, 5-1 OAC) took the last three sets holding BW under 16 points for the rest of the match.
BW Leaders
- Senior All-OAC libero Lauren Gardner (Avon/Saint Joseph Academy) and junior Academic All-OAC libero Jamie Snell (Strongsville) both contributed 12 digs
- Senior All-OAC outside hitter Sam Rueda (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley) put up six kills and nine digs
- Junior Academic All-OAC setter Katarina Blazetic (DeLand, Fla.) led the team with 37 assists, 15 digs, and a hitting percentage of .273
- Senior middle hitter Sydney Simonson (Sullivan/Black River) led the Yellow Jackets with 13 kills
- Junior Academic All-OAC Gabby Schlecht (Naperville, Ill./North) added 10 kills and eight digs
Mount Union Leaders
- Senior middle hitter Alexis Meyer led with 14 kills and a .364 hitting percentage
- Senior outside hitter Heaven Bartell and sophomore libero Averi Haley led the Purple Raiders with 15 digs each
- Sophomore middle hitter Ava Bolen and sophomore right-side hitter Molly McKee both had five kills
- Sophomore middle hitter Ava Bolen hit .312
