BEREA, Ohio – The No. 24 nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball team defeated No. 18 nationally ranked Trine (Ind.) University in overtime by a final score of 72-63 in a non-conference game in Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.
BW Leaders (3-1)
- Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference guard/forward Caely Ressler (Napoleon) had a team-high 20 points with six rebounds
- Senior All-OAC forward Bella Vaillant (Perrysburg) recorded her first double-double of the season with 19 points and led the team with 12 rebounds
- Senior All-OAC guard Emily Irwin (Pickerington/Pataskala Watkins Memorial) added 13 points
- Junior Academic All-OAC forward Brooke Thompson (Maineville/Little Miami) and sophomore guard Maddie Ebbert both had three assists to lead the team
- Sophomore guard Taylor Bass (Strongsville) led the team with two steals
Trine Leaders (3-1)
- Junior forward Erin Sherwood and senior guard Sidney Wagner led Trine with 12 points
- Jada Rhonehouse contributed 11 points and a steal
- Senior guard Katie Tate had two assists and three steals
- Sophomore guard Allison Capouch finished the game with three rebounds, one block and one assist
1st Quarter (BW 14-13)
- Vaillant had a team high six points
- The quarter included eight lead changes ending with the Yellow Jackets up by one
2nd Quarter (BW 30-27)
- The Yellow Jackets were 3-4 on free throws with Vaillant going 2-2
- Thompson recorded her three assists
3rd Quarter (Tied 43-43)
4th Quarter (Tied 58-58)
- The Yellow Jackets and Thunder both scored 15 points to send the game into overtime
- BW went a perfect 6-6 on free throws
Overtime (BW 72-63)
- The Jackets went on a 5-0 scoring run to start OT
- The Brown and Gold outscored the Thunder 14-5 to put the game away
- BW went 100% in both free throws and three-pointers
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Tuesday, November 26 as they travel to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to take on La Roche (Pa.) University in a non-conference game at 6 p.m. at Scott Lang Court inside the Kerr Sport and Fitness Center.
