No. 17 Women's Basketball Blows Past Muskingum

NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The No. 17 nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball team defeated Muskingum University in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup by a final score of 84-54 on Performance Court inside the Anne C. Steele Center.

BW Leaders (7-1, 3-0 OAC)

  • Junior Academic All-OAC guard/forward Alyssa Miller (New Philadelphia) tied a game-high 14 points and added five rebounds, two assists, a block, and a steal
  • Senior All-OAC guard/forward Caely Ressler (Napoleon) was just short of a double-double as she tallied a game-high nine rebounds and went 3-for-3 from deep to score nine points
  • Junior guard Kaycie Badylak (Cincinnati/Archbishop McNicholas) also scored nine points 
  • Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference guard Emily Irwin (Pickerington/Pataskala Watkins Memorial) dished out four assists and scored five points
  • Senior forward Sadie Arend (Carey) recorded a new career-high seven points and added two rebounds
Muskingum Leaders (3-5, 2-1 OAC)
  • Junior guard Courtney Hivick scored a team-high 14 points
  • Junior guard Claudia Harrington added 12 points and a game-high three steals
  • Junior guards Tori Jones and Lizzy Allen each had four rebounds for the Fighting Muskies

1st Quarter (BW 14-8)

  • Irwin opened the game with two points, two assists, a rebound, and a steal in the first quarter

2nd Quarter (BW 36-23)

  • Miller scored six of her 14 points on the day
  • The Yellow Jacket defense forced two turnovers and scored five points in transition

3rd Quarter (BW 64-34)

  • Ressler drained her third three of the day to open the half and to spark a 21-6 run for the Yellow Jackets
  • The BW bench outscored that of the Fighting Muskies 12-4

4th Quarter (BW 84-54)

  • Freshman forward Maddy Stumpf (Johnstown/Big Walnut) scored her first collegiate points and finished with a statline of five points, two rebounds, and an assist in her six minutes
  • Freshman forwards Delaney Garcia (Lakewood) and Sarah Scott (Monaca, Pa./Lincoln Park) each grabbed their first career rebounds wearing the Brown and Gold

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Sunday, December 29 as they host Alma (Mich.) College in the first day of the the Baldwin Wallace Invitational at 5 p.m. in Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center. On Monday, December 30 BW will play in either the BW Invitational consolation game at 1 p.m. or the BW Invitational championship game at 3 p.m. against an opponent yet to be determined.
