BEAVER FALLS, Pa. – The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team defeated Geneva (Pa.) College in its non-conference season opening game by a final score of 1-0 on the Reeves Field.

BW Leaders (1-0)

• Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference forward Sydney Rice (North Royalton) scored the lone goal of the game at the 57:09 mark
• Sophomore All-OAC defender Ella James (Loveland) and sophomore forward Kalyn Rich (Lynchburg / Lynchburg-Clay) provided the double-assist for Rice

Geneva Leaders (0-1-1)

• Junior defender Emily Garvin made three shots with two on goal
• Senior goalkeeper Jade Farnsworth made five saves

First Half

• The Yellow Jackets outshot Geneva 10-3
• Geneva made four saves
• BW won the corner kick battle by a 2-1 margin

Second Half

• The Yellow Jackets made five saves
• The Brown and Gold outshot the Golden Tornadoes 15-6
• BW had six corner kicks

BW is back in action on Sunday, Sept. 1 as it continues its road journey in a non-conference match against Kenyon College on Mavec Field at 2 p.m.
