CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's volleyball team nearly upset undefeated Case Western Reserve University but ultimately fell short in a non-conference match by a score of 3-2 in Horsburgh Gymnasium inside the Veale Center.
BW (5-2) battled Case Western Reserve (9-0) through every set. The Yellow Jackets dropped the first two sets by scores of 25-20 and 26-24 before taking a nail-biting Set 3 by a score of 30-28 to stay alive in the match. BW then forced a fifth set after winning 25-23 in Set 4 and fell just short of the reverse sweep falling 15-13 in the final set against a team who will soon be nationally ranked and will make an appearance in the NCAA tournament for the second straight season.

- Freshman middle hitter Josie Lynn (Wabash, Ind./Northfield) had a big game defending the net with four solo blocks and three block assists and also led the team with five aces
- Senior outside hitter Brinn MacLellan (Novelty/Gilmour Academy) recorded her third straight double-double and her first 20-kill game finishing with 22 kills and 21 digs
- Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference libero and OAC Defensive Player of the Week Lauren Gardner (Avon/St. Joseph Academy) posted 30 digs for the second time this season
- Senior outside hitter Sydney Simonson (Sullivan/Black River) picked up three solo blocks
- Junior Academic All-OAC outside hitter Gabby Schlecht (Naperville, Ill./North) finished with a statline of 12 kills and 20 digs
- Junior Academic All-OAC setter Katarina Blazetic (DeLand, Fla.) had a game-high 54 assists with 13 digs
- Senior All-OAC outside hitter Sam Rueda (Aurora, Ill./Metea Valley) was the fourth Yellow Jacket to earn a double-double with 11 kills and 21 assists
- Freshman middle hitter India Woodson (Oakwood Village/Bedford) also added eight kills and hit .471 in only three sets

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, September 14 when they travel to Alliance for a non-conference doubleheader hosted by the University of Mount Union in Timken Gymnasium inside the McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex. BW tips off against the University of Pittsburgh-Bradford at 10:30 a.m. and will close the weekend against Grove City (Pa.) College at 2:30 p.m.
