Men's Soccer Draws with Transylvania (Ky.) at Mount Union Classic

ALLIANCE, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team took on Transylvania (Ky.) University in a non-conference game at the 2024 Mount Union Classic where the game ended in a 1-1 tie at Kehres Stadium. 

BW (1-2-1) fell to an early deficit thanks to a Transylvania (1-0-1) goal at the 2' mark but answered back with a goal of their own in the 18th minute.

BW Leaders

  • Junior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference midfielder Owen Reyes (North Olmsted) scored the lone goal for the Brown and Gold and took two shots
  • Senior forward Topher Garcia (North Royalton) recorded his first point as a Yellow Jacket with an assist
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Seth Warrick (Avon) registered two saves
  • Freshman midfielder Carter Richardson (Grafton/Midview) and junior midfielder Mathew Skladany (Cleveland/St. Edward) each took two shots
  • The Yellow Jacket defense only allowed three shots on goal
Transylvania Leaders
  • Sophomore midfielder Nick Haskins scored the first goal of the game and took three shots on goal
  • Sophomore forward Gus Dickman took a game-high four shots
  • Freshman goalkeeper Ethan Drew had four saves

  • 2:47 -  Haskins got the scoring started with an unassisted goal
  • 18:18 - Garcia found Reyes who scored the equalizer for his second goal of the season
Second Half (Tied 1-1)
  • The Yellow Jackets outshot the Pioneers 5-4
  • The Pioneers saved four Yellow Jacket shots

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Sunday, September 8 when they wrap up the Mount Union Classic with a non-conference game against Allegheny (Pa.) College at 4 p.m. at Kehres Stadium.
