Men's Soccer Blanks Allegheny (Pa.) in Mount Union Classic Finale

ALLIANCE, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer team defeated non-conference opponent Allegheny (Pa.) College in the final day of the 2024 Mount Union Classic by a score of 2-0 at Kehres Stadium. 

BW (2-2-1) looked to bounce back at the Classic getting a boost from two early goals while the Brown and Gold defense locked down Allegheny (0-4) and allowed only three shots on goal.

After the game, junior defender Aidan O'Neill (Middleburg Heights/Berea-Midpark), freshman midfielder Carter Richardson (Grafton/Midview), and junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference midfielder Owen Reyes (North Olmsted) were named to the Mount Union Classic All-Tournament Team.

BW Leaders

  • Reyes scored his fourth goal of the season and is now tied for the conference lead
  • Richardson scored his first collegiate goal
  • Junior midfielder Michael Giganti (Uniontown/Lake) recorded his first assist of the season
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Diego Teran (Exton, Pa./Henderson) posted his first career shutout with three saves

  • Junior goalkeeper Caleb Kendra had three saves
  • Sophomore defender Jose Cifuentes took a team-high three shots with two on goal

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Wednesday, September 11 when they travel to Greenville, Pennsylvania to take on Thiel (Pa.) College in a non-conference game at Alumni Stadium at 7 p.m.
