Women’s Volleyball Falls to Tough Opponents in Yellow Jacket Tri-Match

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's volleyball team hosted the Yellow Jacket Tri-Match at the Ursprung Gymnasium. BW fell to No. 15 Otterbein in five sets and then dropped their second match against Albion (Mich.) in straight sets.

The Yellow Jackets (11-11, 2-1 OAC), led by head coach Kate Latkovic, gave the No. 15 Otterbein Cardinals a run for their money in the first match. Otterbein only won by two points in their first two sets before BW came back to take the next two, yet they eventually lost the fifth set (23-25, 25-27, 25-18, 25-18, 7-15). After the Cardinals and Jackets went the distance, the Brits took advantage of Otterbein's fatigue by beating them in straight sets. The Jackets then fell at the hands of the Albion (Mich.) Brits, who are now 17-2, with two very close sets to end their day in Berea (22-25, 23-25, 15-25).

  • Senior right-side hitter Lexi Smith (Tiffin / Columbian) made 13 kills to lead the Jackets.

  • Senior setter Katarina Blazetic (DeLand, Fla.) led the Jackets with 30 assists.
  • No. 23 Paige Contris (Pemberville / Eastwood) had 27 digs to lead the team.
