BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's volleyball team beat the Oberlin College Yeowomen by a score of 3-0 in a non-conference matchup at Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Recreation Center.
BW swept the Yeowomen in three straight sets by scores of 25-16, 25-20 and 25-22. The Yellow Jackets didn't back down after a commanding first set victory, coming from behind in the second set, and carrying the momentum into the final set to improve to 12-11 overall. Two Yellow Jackets tied their career bests to help put away Oberlin in a quick Wednesday night match.
BW Leaders (12-11)
- Senior libero Paige Contris (Pemberville / Eastwood) led the team with 15 digs and had four assists
- Senior setter Katarina Blazetic (DeLand, Fla.) gave out a team-high 34 assists as well as six digs and two kills
- Sophomore outside hitter Lyla Nash (Berkey / Evergreen) led the Yellow Jackets with 18 kills and five digs. She tied her career best in kills and had an impressive .586 hitting percentage.
- Senior Gabby Schlecht (Naperville, Ill. / North) matched her career best with five service aces while also contributing nine kills and nine digs
- No. 26 Josie Lynn (Wabash Ind. / Northfield) had four blocks to lead the team
Oberlin Leaders (3-15)
- Brylie Peters led the Yeowomen with 12 kills and 11 digs
- Jillian Jendsen had a team-high 16 assists with seven digs
- Lucy Goebel contributed one block and two kills
- Zeynap Kaya had eight kills and three digs
