Women's Soccer Drops Contest to Wilmington on the Road to Fall Back to .500 in OAC play

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team was defeated on the road by Wilmington College by a score of 3-1, which snapped their two-game streak of shutting out opponents.

Senior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference midfielder Sydni Mudge (Birch Run, Mich.) connected for the Yellow Jackets (3-9-2, 2-2 OAC), scoring with a little bit under 17 minutes to play, which had no assist, but it was not enough to match the Quakers' (9-3-3, 4-0-1 OAC) three goals throughout the contest.

BW Leaders 

  • Mudge scored the only goal for the Yellow Jackets

  • Kalyn Rich (Lynchburg/Lynchburg-Clay) was another leader on the offense who attempted four shots throughout the contest

  • Junior Academic All-OAC goalkeeper Kelly Carver (East Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville East) had eight saves at net, which are her most since recording 13 on September 3
  • BW had four corner kicks in contrast to Wilmington's three

Wilmington Leaders

  • Senior midfielder Jordan Snyder led the way in goals for Wilmington, taking four shots on goal while connecting on two of them to lead the Quakers to victory

  • Alex Wilson led the way for either team in assists, helping out on freshman forward Delaney Benjamin's first-half goal

  • Snyder along with along with forwards MJ Little and Alex Wilson, led the way with five shots taken

  • Goalkeeper Emma Storck helped the Wilmington defense by playing all 90 minutes and had five saves while allowing only one shot to go through

First Half (Wilmington 1-0)

  • 39:05 - Freshman forward Delaney Benjamin scored the first goal of the game for either team, with Wilson coming in on the only assist of the game for either team to give Wilmington a 1-0 lead at the midway point

Second Half (Wilmington 3-1)

  • 72:32 - Snyder scored her first goal of the game to give the Quakers a bigger cushion of 2-0 late in the half

  • 73:04 - Mudge came back 32 seconds later to cut the Wilmington lead in half by a score of 2-1 at the time

  • 78:46 - Snyder ended a stretch of a little more than six minutes with three combined goals scored by both teams to give Wilmington a 3-1 advantage, and it was enough to give the Quakers a win
