BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's volleyball team defeated the Mount Union Purple Raiders by a score of 3-0 in an OAC matchup at Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Recreation Center.
BW earned its third straight sweep, getting the better of the University of Mount Union by scores of 25-15, 25-18, and 25-20. Tonight's victory came with a balanced attack that had several players tying as stat leaders or coming within one of the leaders. Head coach
Kate Latkovic's team improved to 4-1 in the OAC and looks to carry this momentum into the second half of their conference schedule.
BW Leaders (14-11, 4-1 OAC)
- Senior setter Katarina Blazetic (DeLand, Fla.) led with 32 assists, two service aces, and eight digs
- Junior right-side hitter Lexi Smith (Tiffin / Columbian) and sophomore outside hitter Lyla Nash (Berkey / Evergreen) led in kills, each having nine
- Middle hitter Josie Lynn (Wabash Ind. / Northfield) had three blocks and a team high .545 hitting percentage on six kills
- Senior outside hitter Gabby Schlecht (Naperville, Ill. / North) led the Yellow Jackets with four service aces and had eight kills
- First-year Grace Keane (Cleveland / St. Joseph Academy), Schlecht, and Lynn all shared the lead in blocks with three each
Mount Union Leaders (9-14, 1-4 OAC)
- Molly McKee led with nine kills
- DeLani Durst gave out 15 assists
- Averi Haley led the Purple Raiders with 13 digs
