Men's Basketball Falls in Tight Contest to Wittenberg

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team fell to Wittenberg University in a non-conference game, 68-62, inside Pam Evans Smith Arena.

BW Leaders (0-3)
  • Freshman guard Josh Byers (Strongsville) scored a game-high 14 points
  • Junior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference guard Titus Baskerville IV (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) tallied 13 points
  • Junior forward Isaac Richardson (Avon Lake) grabbed five rebounds
Wittenberg Leaders (1-1)
  • Senior forward Eddie Brown led the Tigers with 13 points, adding five rebounds
  • Senior forward Dawson Scott tallied 12 points and grabbed five rebounds
  • Junior forward Tyler Galluch scored 11 points, had four rebounds, and four assists
First Half (WITT, 32-27)
  • Sophomore guard Spence Davidson opened the scoring with a layup in the opening minute
  • Wittenberg started the game hot from deep, making three out of five three-pointers in the first 7:55 of the game, taking a 16-6 lead more than halfway through the half
  • BW chipped away as both teams traded baskets, cutting the lead to five points
  • Byers paced BW in scoring with eight, going a perfect 4-4 from the field
  • BW cashed in on nine points off turnovers
  • Wittenberg outrebounded the Jackets 13-11 in the first half
Second Half (BW 35-34)
  • Brown notched the first points of the half with a free throw in the opening minute
  • Wittenberg began the half on an 8-2 run in the first 4:04, expanding their lead to 11
  • The Yellow Jackets climbed back after a couple of layups and an assist by senior guard Miles Reynolds (Cleveland/St Edward), cutting the Tiger lead to four
  • The Tigers maintained their lead as the teams traded points, expanding the lead to nine
  • BW cut the lead to two with 36 seconds left after two Byers layups and two Baskerville free throws
  • A Scott layup with 0:12 put Wittenberg up by two possessions and sealed the victory for the Tigers
