WOOSTER, Ohio - The No. 9 nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace women's basketball team went undefeated at the Nan Nichols Classic, defeating host team Wooster by a score of 84-56 in their final game of the weekend.
BW (2-1) gained the lead early in the first quarter and continued to pull away, maintaining a strong lead across all four quarters. BW was perfect from the free throw line going 13-13, while also out-rebounding the Fighting Scots 46-29.
Senior Academic All-OAC forward
Brooke Thompson (Maineville/Little Miami) was named the Nan Nichols Tournament MVP for her 30-point weekend and helping the Yellow Jackets to a 2-0 record. Senior guard
Leah Riley (Cincinnati / Sycamore) was also named to the All-Tournament team after recording 24 points total.
BW Leaders (2-1)
- Thompson led the Brown and Gold with 17 points and ten rebounds
- Riley recorded 15 points while going 5-5 on free throws
- Riley and senior guard Kaycie Badylak (Cincinnati/Archbishop McNicholas) had a team-high two steals
- Sophomore guard Elise Champagne (Columbia Station/Columbia) gave out a team-high five assists
Wooster Leaders (3-1)
- Mackenzie Riccitelli led the Fighting Scots with 20 points and seven rebounds
- Ace Sturdivant gave out five assists and tallied 15 points
- Graysen Redpath tallied a team-high three steals
1st Quarter (BW 21-12)
- The Yellow Jackets went on a 11-0 run in the second half of the quarter
- Thompson and Riley led the squad with seven points each
- The Brown and Gold went 5-5 from the free throw line
2nd Quarter (BW 31-21)
- Kayla Jones (Grove City) and Maddy Stumpf (Johnstown/Big Walnut) each totaled four points
- Laura McCoy's (Newton Falls/Garrettsville Garfield) buzzer beater expanded the BW lead to ten going into halftime
- The Yellow Jackets out-rebounded the Fighting Scots 9-7
3rd Quarter (BW 63-41)
- BW outscored the Fighting Scots 22-10
- Champagne gave out two assists
- Badylak recorded two steals
4th Quarter (BW 84-56)
- Jessica Wolanin (Olmsted Falls) and junior guard Sky Regan (Doylestown/Chippewa) each scored their first points of the 2025-26 season
- Thompson led with six points
