GAMBIER, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team fell to Kenyon College in a non-conference matchup, 77-75, inside the Lowry Center.
BW Leaders (0-5)
- Junior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference guard Titus Baskerville IV (Stow/Stow-Munroe Falls) finished with a team-high 16 points
- Junior forward Isaac Richardson (Avon Lake) recorded another double-double that included a season-high 13 points to go along with 10 rebounds; additionally, he had a game-high two steals
- Sophomore guard Brock Beech (Medina) scored an efficient 11 points as he connected on four of his five shots, while also being a perfect two-for-two from the charity strike
Kenyon Leaders (2-1)
- Freshman guard Langston Foster finished with a game-high 18 points
- Senior guard Nick Nelson had a game-high seven assists to go along with 13 points
- Sophomore wing Marius Mazeika contributed for 12 points, five rebounds, and three assists
- Sophomore forward Jackson Burke established himself with a double-double that included 10 points and 10 rebounds, along with a game-high two blocks
First Half (BW 45-41)
- Burke opened up the scoring with a layup in the opening minute of the game
- Bakersville IV cashed in from behind the arc on a pass from Junior forward AJ Pestello (Cuyahoga Falls/Stow-Munroe Falls)
- Both teams exchanged baskets for the better half of the opening period; Richardson laid one in to put the Yellow Jackets up 17-16 at the 11:08 mark
- Junior guard Nick Valentino scored a bucket to put the Owls up 32-24 at the 6:37 mark, but the Brown and Gold fought back to go up at the half by way of a 21-9 run in the final minutes
- BW connected on seven of their 14 attempts from distance
- The Yellow Jackets out-rebounded Kenyon 15-13 on the glass
Second Half (Kenyon 77-75)
- Freshman guard Josh Byers (Strongsville) recorded the first points of the half with a layup in the opening minute
- Kenyon went on a 6-0 run to tie the contest 49 with 13:56 to play
- The game went back and forth as both teams continued to be efficient on the offensive end; BW took a 64-61 lead at the 5:10 mark after a pair of free throws by Pestello
- As the final minutes ensued, each team traded lead changes and ties; Richardson grabbed a BW miss and laid it up with nine seconds left on the clock to tie it at 75
- Nelson came out of a timeout and sliced through the BW defense to lay it in with 2.8 seconds left
- Bakersville IV was unable to cash in on the last-second half-court heave at the buzzer
- The Owls were a blistering six of eight from deep compared to the Yellow Jackets' one make on six attempts
- BW controlled the rebounding battle as they grabbed 19 rebounds to Kenyon's 11
