WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference 149-pounder
Manny Scordos (Brecksville/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) has been named the OAC Men's Wrestler of the Week for the first time in his career.
Scordos earned the accolade after capturing the 149-pound title and leading the No. 20 nationally ranked Yellow Jackets to the team championship at the season-opening Adrian (Mich.) College Invitational last Saturday. He dominated the field with a perfect 4-0 record, including three pins, in a combined 4 minutes and 17 seconds and one technical fall.
Scordos opened the tournament with a 2:33 pin over Sawyer Cooper of Heidelberg University, followed by consecutive sub-minute pins — 51 seconds against CJ Briner of Trine (Ind.) University and 53 seconds against Collin Oliver of Adrian.
Scordos then sealed the title with a commanding 21-3 technical fall over Landyn Crance of Adrian.
For his career,
Scordos now has 99 career victories (99-36), ranking 15th all-time in program history. His career totals include 23 pins, 14 technical falls, and seven major decisions.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, November 8 when they travel to Athens to compete in the Ohio Showcase hosted by NCAA Division I Ohio University inside the Convocation Center. The Yellow Jackets will face No. 5 nationally ranked University of Wisconsin at La Crosse in a dual match at 5 p.m. Ohio will take on the University of Wisconsin at 7 p.m.
