Men's Basketball Drops Season Opener in Tight Finish Against Pitt-Greensburg

GREENSBURG, Pa
. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team fell to the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg in a non-conference matchup, 82-80, inside Chambers Hall to open the 2025-26 season.

BW Leaders (0-1, 0-0 OAC)

  • Senior guard Myles Reynolds (Cleveland/St Edward) finished with a game-high 16 points; additionally, he grabbed six rebounds

  • Sophomore guard Braylan McClardy (Brooklyn/Cuyahoga Heights) connected on three of his four three-point attempts as a part of his 13-point effort

  • Junior forward Isaac Richardson (Avon Lake) recorded a double-double with 12 rebounds to go along with his 10 points

Pitt-Greensburg Leaders (1-0, 0-0 AMCC)

  • Senior guard Jackson Byer finished with 14 points and five rebounds

  • Senior forward Trent Rozich added 12 points and led the team with three assists dished out

  • Senior guard Michael Bigley led the Bobcats in scoring with 15 points, while also recording seven rebounds

First Half (Pitt-Greensburg 42-40)

  • Junior forward AJ Pestello (Cuyahoga Falls/Stow-Munroe Falls) opened up the scoring with a jump shot for the first points by a Yellow Jacket this season

  • Pitt-Greensburg went on a 9-0 run to hold a 34-27 lead with 5:15 left in the half

  • Gameplay went back and forth during the opening minutes as the Brown and Gold took their biggest lead of the night, 19-11, with a triple from McClardy

  •  Pitt-Greensburg converted 11 of its 13 foul shots, compared to BW's five makes on five attempts

  • BW outrebounded the Bobcats on the glass 20-12. Pitt-Greensburg caused trouble for the Yellow Jackets, resulting in eight turnovers

 Second Half (Pitt-Greensburg 82-80)

  • Byer recorded the first points of the half with a layup in the opening minute

  • BW rallied back from an eight-point deficit to take a 56-55 lead at the 12:06 mark

  • The Bobcats punched back with their own run to make the score 68-57 with 8:16 remaining in the game

  • A Richardson hook shot tied the game at 73 with less than five minutes remaining

  • The Yellow Jackets are unable to extend or win the game in the closing seconds following a long step-back two-pointer by senior guard Matthew Marinchak with six seconds left on the clock.

  •  The Brown and Gold outshot the Bobcats from deep four to zero

  •  Pitt-Greensburg capitalized on seven turnovers, resulting in half of the team's 40-second-half points
