GRANVILLE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's volleyball team won their final regular season match 3-0 over the Denison University Big Red inside Livingston Gymnasium.
In their 11th sweep of the season, the Yellow Jackets started with a 25-21 opening set win where they never gave up the lead. BW refused to let off the gas pedal as they dominated the second set 25-15. The third set started with Denison taking a 2-1 lead, but the Jackets proceeded to outscore them 24-12 to take the last set 25-14. The three rallies where Denison held the lead at the start of the third set were the only moments the Big Red had a lead through the entire match.
Coach Kate Latkovic's team played a complete match, proving they are ready for the postseason next week.
BW Leaders (16-13)
- The Yellow Jacket Women's Athlete of the Month, senior setter Katarina Blazetic (DeLand, Fla.), recorded a team-leading 33 assists, now putting her at seventh all-time in assists in BW history with 2,375. Blazetic also led the team with four aces and 10 digs.
- Sophomore middle hitter Josie Lynn (Wabash, Ind. / Northfield) recorded a season-best 12 kills and four blocks while leading the team in both categories.
- Sophomore outside hitter Lyla Nash (Berkey / Evergreen) and first-year middle hitter Grace Keane (Cleveland / St. Joseph Academy) both tied with Lynn for the lead in blocks with four each.
Denison Leaders (13-15)
- Emily Monachino led the Big Red with eight kills.
- Amelia Kurtz had 14 assists to lead the team.
- Ryan Kotalik and Kurtz both made nine digs.
