TIFFIN, Ohio - The No. 11 nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball team defeated Heidelberg University in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup by a final score of 82-40 in Seiberling Gymnasium.
BW Leaders (19-1, 13-0 OAC)
- Senior All-OAC guard/forward Caely Ressler (Napoleon) scored a team-high 10 points marking her tenth game in double figures this season
- Junior Academic All-OAC guard/forward Alyssa Miller (New Philadelphia) had eight points and seven rebounds
- Sophomore guard Kayla Jones (Grove City) finished with a statline of six points, four assists, four steals, and two rebounds in her first collegiate start
- Senior All-OAC forward Bella Vaillant (Perrysburg) recorded nine points and seven rebounds
- Sophomore guard Laura McCoy (Newton Falls/Garrettsville Garfield) had nine points after shooting 4-of-4 from the floor
Heidelberg Leaders (3-17, 2-11 OAC)
- Senior guard/forward Morgan Altenburger was the game's leader in points with 13 and in rebounds with 17
- Sophomore guard Kami Whiteaker added eight points
- Freshman guard Abby Tier led the team with three assists
1st Quarter (BW 33-9)
- Ressler banged back-to-back triples to open the scoring
- Miller scored six points and had three offensive rebounds
- The Brown and Gold defense forced 10 turnovers
2nd Quarter (BW 45-22)
- Vaillant led the team with five points and four rebounds
- The Berg was able to slow down the BW offense outscoring the Jackets 13-12
- Senior Academic All-OAC forward Sadie Arend (Carey), sophomore guard Maddie Ebbert (Lake Orion, Mich.), and Miller each grabbed two of BW's eight offensive boards
3rd Quarter (BW 71-29)
- BW converted on 10 of its field goals while holding Heidelberg to one
- Jones had two buckets, two assists, and one steal
- Senior All-OAC guard Emily Irwin (Pickerington/Pataskala Watkins Memorial), junior Academic All-OAC forward Brooke Thompson (Maineville/Little Miami), and sophomore guard Ava Wilkerson (West Mansfield/Marysville) all scored to finish with six points each on the night
4th Quarter (BW 82-40)
- Freshman forward Maddy Stumpf (Johnstown/Big Walnut) recorded a career-high four rebounds
- Junior Academic All-OAC guard Ali Menendez (Hudson), sophomore guard/forward Rylee Bennett (New Franklin/Archbishop Hoban), and freshman guard Elise Champagne (Columbia Station/Columbia) combined for BW's 11 points
- Bennett found Champagne for her first collegiate three to give BW their biggest lead of the night and to close the game
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Satuday, February 8 as they travel to Bexley to take on Capital University in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup and the first game of a women's and men's doubleheader at 1 p.m. in Performance Arena inside the Capital Center.
