BEXLEY, Ohio - The No. 11 nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace University women's basketball team defeated Capital University in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup by a final score of 75-69 in overtime in Performance Arena inside the Capital Center.
BW Leaders (20-1, 14-0 OAC)
- Junior guard Kaycie Badylak (Cincinnati/Archbishop McNicholas) scored 11 points and shot 3-of-5 from three
- Senior All-OAC guard/forward Caely Ressler (Napoleon) led the team in points with 19, rebounds with six, and steals with five
- Senior All-OAC guard Emily Irwin (Pickerington/Pataskala Watkins Memorial) reached double-figures with 10 points and added four rebounds and three assists
- Sophomore guards Kayla Jones (Grove City) and Laura McCoy (Newton Falls/Garrettsville Garfield) each added eight points
- Sophomore guard Maddie Ebbert (Lake Orion, Mich.) finished with a statline of seven points, five rebounds, and three steals
Capital Leaders (17-4, 11-3 OAC)
- Senior guard Bri O'Connor scored a game-high 29 points
- Junior forward Samaree Perkins recorded a double-double of 27 points and 13 rebounds
- Senior forward Maddi Weiland led the team in assists with four
1st Quarter (Capital 13-12)
- Capital got out to a 8-2 lead but BW ended the half on a 10-5 run
2nd Quarter (BW 31-30)
- The Brown and Gold shot 61.5% from the floor
3rd Quarter (BW 47-45)
- Junior Academic All-OAC forward Brooke Thompson (Maineville/Little Miami) led BW in the trenches with four of the team's 15 rebounds
4th Quarter (Tied 63-63)
- The Yellow Jackets led by two with two seconds left in regulation until O'Connor drained two free throws to send it into overtime
Overtime (BW 75-69)
- Jones put the Jackets on top with a quick three
- BW made five of its seven free throws down the stretch to seal the victory
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Wednesday, February 12 as they host an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup against crosstown rival John Carroll University at 7 p.m. in Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center.
