MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Baldwin Wallace University softball team closed out its spring break trip at the Space Coast Spring Games as it swept a pair of non-conference games at the Space Coast Spring Games at the Space Coast Softball Complex.
BW (7-1) defeated Monmouth (Ill.) College (2-12) by a final score of 4-0in the opener. The Yellow Jackets defeated Nebraska Wesleyan University (11-3) in the finale by a final score of 9-1 in five innings.
Against Monmouth, BW scored four runs on 10 hits as it plated one run in the first, one in the fourth and two in sixth. The Scots were held scoreless on two hits.
At the Plate
- Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference designated hitter Steph Mraz (Strongsville) went 3-for-3 with a run scored
- Junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC first baseman Gillian Ryser (Hubbard) went 2-for-3 with a run scored and run batted-in (RBI)
- Freshman right fielder Lexi Gray (Tallmadge) went 2-for-3 with a run scored
- Three other Yellow Jackets had a base knock highlighted by the two RBI double from Academic All-OAC center fielder Lexy Coggins (Vermillion/Firelands)
In the Circle
- Junior right hander Katie Barnhart (North Ridgeville) won her second straight game as she threw a seven-inning scoreless complete game as she allowed two hits with four strikeouts and one walk.
Against Nebraska Wesleyan, the Yellow Jackets scored nine runs on 10 hits as it plated two runs in the first, one in the second and third, three in the fourth and two in the fifth. The Prairie Wolves scored one run on two hits as they pushed their lone run across the plate in the fourth.

- Coggins went 3-for-3 with two runs scored
- Senior All-OAC catcher Bridie Bricker (Brook Park/Berea-Midpark) went 2-for-3 with two RBIs
- Junior All-OAC designated hitter Maddie Lester (Boardman) went 2-for-4 with a double, run scored and three RBIs
- Freshman left fielder Sam Peterkoski (Berea/Berea-Midpark) went 2-for-4 with a run scored and RBI
- Junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC shortstop Lucia Wolford (McDonald) went 1-for-3 with two runs scored
In the Circle
- Senior All-OAC righty Marisa Hall (Paris/East Canton) won her fourth game of the season as she allowed one run on two hits with three strikeouts and a walk
BW is back in action on Thursday, March 20 when it opens the home portion of its schedule when it hosts a non-conference doubleheader against Alma (Mich.) College on the BW Softball Field at the Roehm Athletic Complex at 3 p.m.
