BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University softball team swept an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader over Otterbein University on the BW Softball Field at the Roehm Ahletic Complex.
In game one, BW (25-2, 13-1 OAC) scored two runs on seven hits as they plated one run in the fourth and fifth innings. Otterbein (13-14, 4-7 OAC) scored one run on four hits as it pushed its lone run across the plate in the seventh.
At the Plate
- Senior All-OAC catcher Bridie Bricker (Brook Park/Berea-Midpark) went 2-for-2 with a run batted-in (RBI) and walk
- Sophomore third baseman Mia Maddamma (North Royalton) went 2-for-2 with a double and RBI
- Senior Academic All-OAC center fielder Lexy Coggins (Vermillion/Firelands), junior All-OAC designated player Maddie Lester (Boardman) and junior Academic All-OAC second baseman Sabrina Burke (London) all had a base knock.
In the Circle
- Senior All-OAC right hander Marisa Hall (Paris/East Canton) won her league best 15th game as she allowed one run on four hits with seven strikeouts and no walks.
In game two, the Yellow Jackets scored eight runs on 16 hits as they plated one run in the first and second innings, five in the third and one in the fifth. The Cardinals scored three runs on 10 hits as they pushed two runs across the plate in the fourth and one in the fifth.
At the Plate
- Sophomore left fielder Sam Peterkoski (Berea/Berea-Midpark) went 4-for-4 with a triple, two runs scored and RBI
- Lester went 3-for-4 with a double, run scored and two RBIs
- Coggins went 2-for-4 with a double, run scored and two RBIs
- Junior right fielder Steph Mraz (Strongsville) went 2-for-3 with a triple and run scored
- Junior righty Katie Barnhart (North Ridgeville) went 2-for-4 with a run scored and RBI
In the Circle
- Barnhart won her fifth game of the season as she allowed three runs on 10 hits with two strikeouts and a walk
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Monday, April 21 when they travel to Grand Rapids, Michigan for non-conference doubleheader against Calvin University on the Calvin Softball Field at 2:30 p.m.
