BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University softball team continued its impressive season by sweeping an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) doubleheader over the University of Mount Union on the BW Softball Field at the Roehm Athletic Complex.
In the game one, BW (16-1, 6-0 OAC) scored four runs on 10 hits as it plated one run in the third and fifth innings and two in the sixth. Mount Union (11-8, 1-3 OAC) scored three runs on six hits as it pushed two runs across the plate in the second and one in the seventh.
At the Plate
- Junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC shortstop Lucia Wolford (McDonald) went 3-for-3 with a double, two runs batted-in (RBIs) and a stolen base
- Senior All-OAC catcher Bridie Bricker (Brook Park/Berea-Midpark), who is this week's OAC Hitter of the Week, went 2-for-3 with a double, homerun, run scored and RBI
- Sophomore left fielder Sam Peterkoski (Berea/Berea-Midpark) went 2-for-3 with a run scored
In the Circle
- Senior All-OAC right hander Marisa Hall (Paris/East Canton), who is this week's OAC Pitcher of the Week) picked up her 10th win of the season as she allowed three runs (one earned) on six hits with a strikeout and walk
In game two, the Yellow Jackets scored six runs on 11 hits as they plated two runs in the first and second and one in the third and seventh. The Purple Raiders scored five runs on seven hits as they pushed three runs across the plate in the second and one in the third and sixth.
At the Plate
- Peterkoski went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and a walk
- Junior right fielder Steph Mraz (Strongsville) went 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and an RBI
- Five other BW hitters had a base knock highlighted by the doubles from Bricker, junior All-OAC right-handed pitcher Maddie Lester (Boardman) and Wolford
In the Circle
- Lester earned her fourth win of the season as she allowed five runs (three earned) on seven hits with two strikeouts and three walks
The Yellow Jackets return to action on Saturday, April 12, when they travel to New Concord, to take Muskingum University in an OAC doubleheader on Donna J. Newberry Field at 1 p.m.
