Brit Kostura (Tequesta, Fla./Jupiter Christian School) has been named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association National Pitcher of the Week Honorable Mention and has been selected to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week for the first team in his career.
Earlier this week,
Kostura was named the OAC Pitcher of the Week and is the second Yellow Jacket representative on the D3baseball.com Team of the Week this season. He also was the runner-up in the NCBWA Pitcher of the Week voting marking the first time a BW player has been honored by the association since 2013 and the first BW pitcher since 2011.
Kostura earns his first career weekly honor after pitching a complete game no-hitter in BW's 2-0 Game 2 victory over John Carroll. He retired 26 of his 29 batters faced with only three walks and notched seven punchouts to earn his fourth victory of the season.
Kostura recorded only the fifth no-hitter in program history and the first since the 2011 season.
This season,
Kostura has appeared in 10 games and has made seven starts where he has a record of 4-0 through 53.2 innings. He leads the OAC with a .82 walks per innings pitched, leads the team and is second in the OAC with a 2.01 ERA, and is fifth in the OAC with a team-high 57 strikeouts.
Kostura has allowed only 12 earned runs on 27 hits and 17 walks and an opponent batting average of .148. In his career,
Kostura has appeared in 20 games making eight starts. He has pitched 70.1 innings where he has a record of 4-0 and one save including one complete game, one shutout, and one no-hitter.
Kostura has a career ERA of 1.92, a WHIP of .63, and has tallied 68 strikeouts. He has limited opponents to 15 earned runs on 38 hits and 24 walks and an average of .159.
Kostura was a 2024 Academic All-OAC honoree.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action Thursday, May 8 as they travel to Alliance for the first round of the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament hosted by the University of Mount Union as they take on Ohio Northern University at 3 p.m. at Rafeld-Rogers Field.
