Men's Basketball Falls to Ohio Northern at Home in OAC Matchup

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team came up short against Ohio Northern University in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup, 66-50, inside Ursprung Gymnasium.

BW Leaders (5-12, 2-6 OAC)

  • Freshman guard Josh Byers (Strongsville) led all BW players with nine points and three rebounds

  • Junior forward Isaac Richardson (Avon Lake) had eight points and three rebounds 

  • Junior forward AJ Pestello (Cuyahoga Falls/ Stow-Munroe Falls) had eight points and three rebounds

  • Sophomore guard Brock Beech (Medina) scored seven points, had three rebounds, and two assists, which was second on the team

  • Junior guard Titus Baskerville IV (Stow/ Stow-Munroe Falls) had three rebounds, and a team-carrying five assists

Ohio Northern Leaders (10-7, 5-3 OAC)

  • Senior guard Will Miller led the Polar Bears offense with a game-high 22 points

  • Sophomore guard Conye Gaston tallied 19 points

  • Senior guard Mason Studer led both teams with eight rebounds

  • Junior guard Noah Langford had a team-best four assists to contribute to the ONU offense

First Half (BW 30-29)

  • The game started off with BW winning the jump ball and immediately starting the scoring with a layup by Baskerville IV

  • The teams traded leads back-and-forth eight times, with BW's biggest lead being five before having a one-point advantage at the break

  • Pestello led the Yellow Jackets at halftime with six points and three rebounds

  • The Brown and Gold had seven assists on 13 made field goals in the half

Second Half (ONU 66-50)

  • Freshman guard Josh Byers (Strongsville) got the scoring started for the Yellow Jackets with a three-pointer

  • ONU started the half on a 13-3 run to take the lead, and never looked back

  • For the rest of the game, the Polar Bears outscored BW 24-17 to collect their fifth win in conference play 

  • Freshman guard Josh Byers (Strongsville) led BW in scoring with seven points in the half
