ADA, Ohio - The No. 10 nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace women's basketball team defeated the Ohio Northern Polar Bears by a score of 55-46 in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup at the ONU Sports Center.
A late 3rd quarter surge propelled BW (15-2, 8-0 OAC) over conference rival Ohio Northern. The Yellow Jackets remain undefeated in conference play with their eighth straight conference win of the season and 12th straight win of the season.
BW Leaders (15-2, 8-0 OAC)
- Junior guard Laura McCoy (Newton Falls/Garrettsville Garfield) led BW with 17 points and tied her career-best grabbing seven rebounds
- Senior forward Brooke Thompson (Maineville/Little Miami) shot 100% from the field
- Senior forward Kayla Jones (Grove City) and senior guard Alyssa Miller (New Philadelphia) led the Yellow Jackets in assists with two
- Junior guard Ava Wilkerson (West Mansfield/Marysville) added 10 points
Ohio Northern Leaders (5-12, 4-4 OAC)
- Guard Liv Mueller led the Polar Bears with 10 points
- Forward Gabi Croft gave out a team leading two assists
- Forward Priscilla Adjei and Croft each recorded a team-high five rebounds
1st Quarter (15-10 BW)
- McCoy totaled seven points
- The Yellow Jackets began the matchup on a 7-0 run
- Jones began the scoring with a layup
2nd Quarter (27-26 BW)
- McCoy sank a three-point jumpshot off of an assist from Miller
- BW collected seven rebounds
3rd Quarter (42-32 BW)
- Junior guard Taylor Bass (Strongsville) and Maddy Stumpf (Johnstown/Big Walnut) each recorded a block
- Senior guard Leah Riley (Cincinnati/Sycamore) went 3-4 from the line
- A 7-0 run to finish the quarter gave the Yellow Jackets a ten point lead going into the final frame
4th Quarter (55-46 BW)
- The Yellow Jackets held the Polar Bears scoreless for the first half of the quarter
- Junior guard Ava Wilkerson (West Mansfield/Marysville) recorded five points
