Men’s Basketball Drops OAC Road Contest to Marietta

MARIETTA, Ohio. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team fell to Marietta College in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup, 99-83, inside the Ban Johnson Center. BW came out in the first half with an extremely competitive effort. Marietta came out on fire in the second half on both ends of the floor to overpower the Yellow Jackets in the final 20 minutes.

BW Leaders (6-14, 3-8 OAC) 

  • Junior forward Isaac Richardson (Avon Lake) finished with 22 points, six rebounds, and one steal 

  • Junior Academic All-OAC Guard Titus Baskerville IV (Stow-Munroe Falls) made a career-high five three-point attempts, as he scored 19 points, grabbed three rebounds, dished out one assist, and blocked one shot 

  • Sophomore guard Brock Beech (Medina) scored 14 points on for-of-five shooting, including going two-for-three from deep, to go along with four rebounds   

  • Junior forward AJ Pestello (Cuyahoga Falls/Stow-Munroe Falls) recorded nine points, a team-high eight rebounds, two assists, and one block 

Marietta Leaders (9-11, 4-7 OAC) 

  • Senior Guard Elijah Harden finished with a game-high 29 points and three steals, two rebounds, and one assist 

  • Sophomore Post Mason Wisniewski recorded a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds, to go along with two blocks and one steal 

  • Sophomore Guard Jai Guerra-Howard tallied 18 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists  

First Half (Marietta 44-42) 

  • Wisniewski started the scoring off with a finish at the rim in the opening minute 

  • Baskerville IV connected on back-to-back three pointers in a personal 6-0 run to make the score 19-13 at the 13:28 mark 

  • Marietta responded with a 9-0 run of their own, capped off by a three-point make by Senior Wing Darius Carden at the 9:52 mark 

  • Buckets were traded down the stretch, but the Pioneers end the half on a 13-11 run in the final 4:45 

  • Baskerville IV led all scorers with 17 points 

  • The Yellow Jackets cashed in on eight three-point attempts compared to Marietta's three 

  • The Pioneers outrebounded BW on the glass 20-16 

 Second Half (Marietta 99-83) 

  • Richardson started the scoring off with a layup during the opening possession 

  • Following another Richardson basket, the Pioneers went on a 9-0 run ending with a Wisniewski and-one dunk at the 14:43 mark to make the score 61-51 

  • Marietta exploded on offense and went on a 19-11 run to make the score 80-62 at the 8:57 mark 

  • The Pioneers took their largest lead (92-70) at the 4:17 mark 

  • Marietta cashed in on six three-point attempts compared to BW's three 

  • The Pioneers outrebounded BW 23-17 on the glass
