Men’s Basketball Falls to No. 11 Mount Union

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's basketball team came up short against the 11th-ranked University of Mount Union in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup, 93-60 inside Ursprung Gymnasium.

BW Leaders (6-15, 3-9 OAC)

  • Junior guard Daiyaan Solomon (Cleveland) led all Yellow Jacket scorers with 11 points

  • Junior forward AJ Pestello (Cuyahoga Falls) had a good game with 10 points and a club-leading three assists and also had two blocks and two steals each

  • Senior guard Myles Reynolds (Cleveland) led the team with four rebounds 

Mount Union Leaders (19-2, 10-2 OAC)

  • Sophomore guard Chase Casenhiser led the team with 14 points 

  • Junior forward Elijah Farrington grabbed 12 boards to lead the Purple Raiders in the category

  • Casenhiser and junior guard Kevin Hamilton had three steals to lead Mount Union on defense

First Half (Mount Union 41-29)

  • Mount Union sophomore guard Chance Casenhiser started the scoring with a jumper in the opening minute 

  • Junior forward Pestello led the Yellow Jackets with seven points 

  • Senior forward Kevin Moore led Mount Union with seven points

  • In the last 5:40, the Purple Raiders went on a 15-5 run to take a 41-29 lead into the break

  • Mount Union had 24 points in the paint compared to the Yellow Jackets' six

  • BW made four threes compared to the Purple Raiders' three 

  • Mount Union took a slight rebound advantage into the half, outrebounding the Brown and Gold, 22-17
Second Half (Mount Union 93-60)

  • The Purple Raiders got the first points of the half by Casenhiser on a jumper 

  • Mount Union started the half on a 11-3 run, building a lead as big as 20, and didn't look back for the next 15 minutes

  • The Purple Raiders outrebounded by the Yellow Jackets on the glass, 21-15

  • The Brown and Gold and the Purple Raiders both made four threes in the half

  • Mount Union shot 61.8% from the field in the latter half compared to the Yellow Jackets' 37%

  • BW had five assists on 10 made field goals in the half
