No. 10 Women’s Basketball Delivers Resounding Road Victory Against Marietta

MARIETTA, Ohio - The No. 10 nationally ranked Baldwin Wallace women's basketball team delivered a dominant road performance, defeating Marietta College 89-66 inside Ban Johnson Arena. 

BW (18-2, 11-0 OAC) won their 29th-straight regular season Ohio Athletic Conference game this afternoon dating back to February 17, 2024. The Yellow Jackets jumped out to an early double-digit lead and never looked back. They shot over 54% from the floor and knocked down 13 three-pointers to earn their 11th conference victory of the season. BW showcased its depth with 49 bench points in the convincing victory.

BW Leaders (18-2, 11-0 OAC)
  • Junior guard Leah Riley (Cincinnati / Sycamore) led all scorers with 15 points, adding four assists and a steal.
  • Junior guard Kaycie Badylak (Cincinnati / Archbishop McNicholas) came off the bench to score 15 points on an efficient five-of-six shooting, including four-of-five from deep.
  • Senior guard Laura McCoy (Newton Falls / Garrettsville Garfield) chipped in 12 points, five rebounds, and three assists.
  • Junior guard Kayla Jones added 12 points, four rebounds, and four assists.
  • Senior forward Brooke Thompson (Maineville / Little Miami) pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds while adding six points in the paint.

Marietta Leaders (10-10, 5-6 OAC)
  • Abby Garner paced the Pioneers with 14 points and six rebounds.
  • Ava Heller finished with 12 points on five-of-eleven shooting
  • Tess Trimble and Payten Bruns each scored six points off the bench.

1st Quarter (BW 29-13)
  • The Yellow Jackets opened the game shooting 61% from the field.
  • Badylak knocked down three first-quarter triples to spark the offense.
  • BW forced early turnovers and built a 16-point advantage.

2nd Quarter (BW 50-28)
  • BW outscored Marietta 21-15 to extend the lead at halftime.
  • Riley scored in double figures before the break and added multiple assists.
  • The BW bench continued to apply pressure, stretching the margin to 22.

3rd Quarter (BW 69-46)
  • The Yellow Jackets maintained control with balanced scoring throughout the quarter.
  • Elise Champagne (Columbia Station / Columbia) connected on a three-pointer, while Jones and McCoy converted in transition.
  • BW held Marietta to just 44% shooting in the frame.

4th Quarter (BW 89-66)
  • The Yellow Jackets closed the game shooting 67% in the final quarter.
  • BW finished with a 45-26 rebounding advantage and 34 points in the paint.
