BEREA, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University Athletics has announced that Genevieve Duxbury has been named the second head coach in the history of the women's wrestling program.
"We are excited to welcome Genevieve to Baldwin Wallace and have her lead our women's wrestling program," said Director of Athletics and Recreation Steve Thompson. "She has been deeply involved in the growth of girls' and women's wrestling in Ohio, and she brings tremendous energy, credibility and lifelong passion for developing young women through the sport. I believe Genevieve understands both where women's wrestling is today and the incredible opportunity ahead of us at BW. We are excited about the future of the program under her leadership."
Duxbury brings extensive coaching experience at the high school, club and collegiate levels. Most recently, she served as the head girls wrestling coach and assistant boys wrestling coach at Orange High School, a position she has held since 2024. She also coaches with the Ohio National Team, traveling with and coaching athletes at the Fargo National Tournament, and the Ohio Greco Boyz & Girlz Club.
Prior to Orange, Duxbury served as the head girls wrestling coach at Lutheran West High School from 2019 to 2023. During her time at Lutheran West, she coached girls at the first sanctioned Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) state wrestling tournament. She also served as a women's volunteer assistant coach at John Carroll University in 2023, supporting the associate head coach with practices and administrative duties.
Duxbury has been actively involved in the development of girls' wrestling in Ohio. She worked alongside coaches from across the state and the Wrestle Like a Girl organization to educate coaches, athletes and administrators on the benefits of sanctioning girls' wrestling, helping lead to its establishment as an OHSAA-sanctioned sport for the 2022-23 academic year.
Her coaching accomplishments include being named the Chagrin Valley Conference (CVC) Girls Coach of the Year in 2026 and the Greater Cleveland Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association Girls Coach of the Year in 2023. Duxbury also holds a USA Wrestling Silver Certification and is SafeSport trained.
"I'm excited to be part of a legacy of college wrestling in Northeast Ohio, but more than that, I'm thrilled to help young women grow in the sport that I love," said Duxbury.
Duxbury graduated from Miami (OH) University in May 2026 with a Bachelor of Science in Business in Accountancy.
