Women's Soccer Drops OAC Opener to Capital

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team dropped its Ohio Athletic Conference opener to Capital University by a final score of 5-1 on Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium, snapping its second multiple-game winning streak of the season.

Game Recap
In the first minute of play, the Yellow Jackets got on the board with a long-distance goal scored by senior forward Kalyn Rich. For the remainder of the opening half, their lead was held only briefly as Capital (8-2, 1-0 OAC) scored four goals and possessed a 4-1 lead at the break.

Capital added to their lead with a goal in the 51st minute to make the score 5-1. The Yellow Jackets recorded nine shots with four on goal. Capital had four corner kicks, but the BW defense held its ground to minimize the damage done by the Comets.

The Matchup
Today was the 23rd time since 2008 that the two schools have played one another. Capital, the OAC preseason favorites, have won or tied every match against BW since 2017.

Looking Ahead
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Wednesday, October 7, when they will travel to Alliance to take on the University of Mount Union. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
