Men’s Lacrosse Suffers First Loss of Season Against Denison

GRANVILLE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University's men's lacrosse team fell to Denison University inside Kienzle-Hylbert Stadium in a non-conference matchup. Denison jumped out to an early lead and never looked back. BW tried to mount a late comeback with 3 goals in as many minutes in the 4th quarter but ultimately came up short and lost the game, 14-7.

BW (2-1) was led in points by senior attack/midfield Bennet Trout (Pickerington/North), who notched two goals and two assists in the game. Junior attack/midfield Paxton Allison (Redondo Beach, Calif./St. John Bosco) had a goal and an assist as well. Junior goalie AJ Schultz (Mukwonago, Wis.) led the Yellow Jackets in saves with three.

Denison was led by senior attack Macky Peck who had 4 goals and senior goalie Andrew Albert who had 13 saves.  

1st Quarter (4-1 Denison) 
  • Senior attack/midfield Ian Shealy (Westerville/Central) scored the lone BW goal 
  • BW won the ground ball battle, 6-5 
  • Denison's Albert had 5 saves 

2nd Quarter (9-2 Denison) 
  • Trout scored for the Yellow Jackets 
  • Denison outshot BW 9-7 

3rd Quarter (12-4 Denison) 
  • Trout added a second goal on the night 
  • Senior attack/midfield Reichen Geiselhart (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) scored BW's second goal in the quarter 
  • Denison had five saves compared to the Brown and Gold's zero 

4th Quarter (14-7 Denison) 
  • BW won the quarter, 3-2 
  • Junior face-off specialist Evan Vetter (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) won five out of six face-offs in the fourth quarter 
  • Schultz accumulated three saves
