Men's Lacrosse Rallies Late but Falls to Centre (Ky.) in Danville

DANVILLE, Ky. – The Baldwin Wallace University Men's Lacrosse team fell to Centre (Ky.) College by a score of 14-11 at Joe McDaniel Field for their second consecutive loss.

BW (2-2) was led by four different players, including junior attack/midfielder Noah Dodgion (Hilliard/Davidson), All-OAC attack/midfielder Ian Shealy (Westerville/Central), senior All-OAC attack/midfielder Jake Koonmen (Fairport, N.Y.), and senior attack/midfielder Reichen Geiselhart (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) who each scored two goals.

Senior attack/midfielder Bennet Trout (Pickerington/North) contributed five assists. Goalkeeper Aidan Malone (Canal Winchester) had six saves on shots that were taken by the Colonels.

First Quarter (Centre 4-1)
  • BW outshot the Colonels in the opening quarter of play, 9-8
  • Geiselhart scored the only goal in the opening quarter for the Yellow Jackets at the 8:28 mark of play
  • Junior attack/midfield Paxton Allison (Redondo Beach, Calif./St John Bosco) had the assist on Geiselhart's goal

Second Quarter (Centre 8-4)
  • The Brown and Gold scored three goals, with three different players connecting, and at the 4:38 mark, the Colonel's lead was cut to just one, 5-4
  • BW had seven shots on goal, while Centre only had five
  • The Yellow Jackets won six face-offs compared to Centre's two
  • Two assists helped on three of the BW goals 

Third Quarter (Centre 12-8)
  • Senior attack/midfielder Shealy scored two goals in the third quarter
  • Trout had two assists in the third quarter to help the BW offense
  • The Yellow Jackets took more shots as well as shots on goal, leading these respective categories 15-10 and 8-5

Fourth Quarter (Centre 14-11)
  • Trout also had two assists in the fourth quarter to finish with a team-leading five on the day
  • The Yellow Jackets had three goals and outscored the Colonels 3-2
  • BW took more shots again, 9-8
