Softball Earns a Split on Day 2 of Space Coast Spring Games

MELBOUNRE, Fla. – The Baldwin Wallace University softball split a pair of non-conference on day two of the 2026 Space Coast Space Games at the Space Coast Softball Complex.

BW (3-1) opened the day by defeating Rivier (N.H.) University (0-4) by a final score of 7-1.   The Yellow Jackets fell to Wisconsin Luteran College (4-4) by a final score of 4-3 in the nightcap.

Against Rivier, BW scored seven runs on 10 hits as it plated one run in the first, two in the second, three in the third and one in the fourth.  The Raiders scored one run on one hit as they plated their lone run in the fourth.
At the Plate
  • Junior first baseman Lexie Vaillant (Bowling Green/Perrysburg) went 2-for-3 with a homerun, double, two runs score and a career-high four runs batted-in (RBIs)
  • Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC third baseman Mia Maddamma (North Royalton) went 2-for-3 with a run scored
  • Senior Academic All-OAC second baseman Sabrina Burke (London) went 2-for-3 with a double, run scored and RBI
  • Sophomore designated player Ava Seigwald (Linden, Mich.) went 2-for-2 with two runs scored in her first game in the Brown and Gold
In the Circle
  • Sophomore right hander Breckyn Daniel (Berea/Berea-Midpark) picked up the win as she allowed one run on one hit with two walks in five innings pitched
  • Freshman right Bailey Licht (Eastlake/North) pitched the final two innings in her collegiate debut and did not allow a run with three strikeouts and three walks
Against Wisconsin Lutheran, the Yellow Jackets scored three runs on five hits as it plated all three runs in the third.  The Warriors scored four runs on seven hits as they pushed three runs across the plate in the second and one in the sixth.
At the Plate
  • Maddamma went 2-for-3 with a double, run scored and RBI
  • Three other BW hitters had a base knock highlighted by the double from Burke
In the Circle
  • Junior right hander Katie Barnhart (North Ridgeville) took the loss as she allowed four runs (two earned) on seven hits with five strikeouts and no walks
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Thursday, March 12 when they continue play at the Space Coast Spring Games with non-conference games against the University of Wisconsin at Superior and Shenandoah (Va.) University at 10 a.m. and 12:15 p.m., respectively
