Men’s Lacrosse's Comeback Falls Short Against Illinois Wesleyan in Bloomington, Ill.

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.
- The Baldwin Wallace University men's lacrosse team lost to Illinois Wesleyan University despite a late push from the Yellow Jackets. A big second quarter from the Titans propelled them to a 15-11 win.
 
Baldwin Wallace (4-3) was led by junior attack/midfield Noah Dodgion (Hilliard / Davidson) who had three goals and two assists. Senior attack/midfield Bennet Trout (Pickerington / North), senior attack/midfield Ian Shealy (Westerville / Central) and senior Men's Yellow Jacket of the Week Reichen Geiselhart (Cranberry Township, Pa. / Seneca Valley) each had two goals. Both BW goalies, junior AJ Schultz (Mukwonago, Wis.) and sophomore Aidan Malone (Canal Winchester) tallied four saves each.
 
Illinois Wesleyan (5-2) was led by junior attack Timothy McHugh who had five goals and three assists on the night. Sophomore goalkeeper Jaymeson Zackery had 19 saves and a .633 save percentage
 
1st Quarter (BW 4-3)
  • Illinois Wesleyan opened the scoring through a goal by McHugh
  • BW scored the last three goals of the quarter to take the lead into the break
  • The Yellow Jackets outshot the Titans 20-4
 
2nd Quarter (IWU 11-6)
  • The Titans outscored BW 8-2
  • Dodgion notched a goal and an assist in the quarter
  • IWU won six of the ten faceoffs in the quarter
 
3rd Quarter (IWU 13-7)
  • Junior attack/midfield Paxton Allison (Redondo Beach, Calif. / St. John Bosco) scored the lone BW goal
  • Zackery tallied seven saves for the Titans
  • BW won the ground ball battle, 11-7
 
4th Quarter (IWU 15-11)
  • BW had four different goalscorers in the quarter, Trout, Dodgion, Geiselhart, and Shealy
  • BW outshout IWU 16-7
  • Junior face-off specialist Evan Vetter (Cranberry Township, Pa. / Seneca Valley) went 5-for-6 in face-offs in the quarter
