WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University senior women's tennis student-athlete
Gillian Brown (Brunswick) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Tennis Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
Brown earns the weekly honor after going 3-0 at third singles and 3-0 at second doubles, helping BW to an undefeated 3-0 record last week during its spring break trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina.
She opened the week with a 6-4, 6-3 singles victory and teamed with junior
Samantha Thielen (Toledo/Sylvania Northview) for a 6-1 doubles win as the Yellow Jackets defeated Buena Vista (Iowa) University, 7-0.
Brown followed with a 6-1, 6-2 singles victory and a 6-2 doubles win alongside
Thielen in BW's 6-1 victory over Lancaster Bible (Pa.) College.
She closed the week with a 7-6 (7-3), 6-4 singles win and a 6-3 doubles victory with
Thielen in the Yellow Jackets' 7-0 win against Western New England (Mass.) University.
This season,
Brown holds an 8-3 singles record and a 7-3 doubles mark.
For her career,
Brown has recorded 18 singles victories and 14 doubles wins.
BW, winners of six consecutive matches, returns to action on Saturday, March 28, when it hosts a women's and men's non-conference doubleheader against Westminster (Pa.) College on the Pop Collins Tennis Courts at 9 a.m.
