BEXLEY, Ohio – After being postponed twice this week, the Baldwin Wallace University softball team returned to action as it fell to Capital University in an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader on Clowson Field.
In game one, BW (7-4, 2-2 OAC), who played on a dirt infield for the first time this season, scored two runs on five hits as it plated one run in the fourth and sixth innings. Capital (10-8, 2-2 OAC) scored three runs on six hits as it pushed one across the plate in the first and two in the third.
At the Plate
- Freshman shortstop Morgan Palos (Elyria) went 3-for-3 with her first career homerun, double, two runs scored and a run-batted in (RBI).
- Junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC Mia Maddamma (North Royalton) went 1-for-3 with a double
- Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC center fielder Steph Mraz (Strongsville) went 1-for-3 with a RBI

- Senior right hander Katie Barnhart (North Ridgeville) took the loss as she allowed three runs on six hits with one strikeout and three walks
In game two, the Yellow Jackets were held scoreless on three hits. The Comets scored one runs on six hits as they pushed the winning run across the plate in the fifth inning.
At the Plate
- Junior All-OAC left fielder Sam Peterkoski (Berea/Berea-Midpark) went 2-for-4 with a stolen base
- Senior Academic All-OAC second baseman Sabrina Burke (London) went 1-for-3 with a double and stolen base
- Senior Academic All-OAC right fielder Sam Smearman (Middleburg Heights/Berea-Midpark) went 1-for-3
In the Circle
- Sophomore righty Breckyn Daniel (Berea/Berea-Midpark) suffered the loss as she allowed one run on six hits with career-high tying four strikeouts and two walks
BW is back in action on Monday, March 30 when it hosts a non-conference doubleheader against The University of Olivet (Mich.) on the BW Softball Field inside the Roehm Athletic Complex. Game one is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. with game two slated to start at 3 p.m.
