HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Baldwin Wallace University women's tennis team opened its spring season as well as its annual spring break trip by shutting out Buena Vista (Iowa) University in a non-conference match by a final score of 7-0 at the Hilton Head Beach and Tennis Resort
BW (5-2) swept all three doubles matches and all six singles matches over Buena Vista (1-14).
Doubles
- Junior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference Colleen Andersen (Ashtabula/St. John) and junior Academic All-OAC Olivia Koutouras (Avon Lake) won at first doubles by a score of 6-4
- Senior Gillian Brown (Brunswick) and junior Academic All-OAC Samantha Thielen (Toledo/Sylvania Northview) won at second doubles by a score of 6-1
- Sophomore Kate Slutz (Salem/West Branch) and sophomore Sarah Sayyed (Westlake) won at third doubles by a score of 7-5
Singles
- Andersen won at first singles by identical scores of 6-0
- Koutouras won at second singles by scores of 6-0 and 6-2
- Brown won at third singles by scores of 6-4 and 6-3
- Thielen won at fourth singles by scores of 6-1 and 6-2
- Slutz won at fifth singles by scores of 6-2 and 6-3
- Sayyed won at sixth singles by scores of 6-2 and 6-3
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Wednesday, March 11 when they continue their trip to Hilton with a non-conference match against Lancaster Bible (Pa.) College on the Cordillo Courts at 2 p.m.
