OAC Champion Men’s Wrestling Earns NWCA Team Scholar All-America Award, 10 Wrestlers Named Scholar All-Americans

MANHEIM, Pa. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's wrestling team has earned a 2025-26 National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Division III Scholar All-America Award while 11 wrestlers have been recognized as Scholar All-Americans.

BW, who was one of three Ohio Athletic Conference teams to be recognized joining Heidelberg University and Ohio Northern University, was 19th of the top 30 teams with a grade point average of 3.622. 

The 11 wrestlers to be honored were senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC Remington Bauer (Norwalk/Edison), senior All-American and Academic All-American Joey Petrella (Reynoldsburg/Bishop Hartley), senior All-OAC Manny Scordos (Brecksville/Brecksville-Broadview Heights), senior All-American Tommy West (Avon Lake/St. Edward), junior All-American Andrew Supers (Medina), sophomore All-OAC Dorian Hoffman (Luzerne, Pa./Wyoming Valley), sophomore Christian McChesney (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg-Salem), sophomore All-OAC Antonio Shelley (Mentor), sophomore All-American Andy Vanscoy (Cuyahoga Falls/St. Vincent-St. Mary), freshman Ben McWilliams (Mentor-on-the-Lake/Mentor) and freshman Nathan Moser (Middletown/Monroe).

Bauer, who carries a 3.956 grade point average in pre-allied health and pre-physical therapy, garners his third straight accolade.  This year, he was fourth on the team with 31 victories and a record of 31-12.  Bauer recorded a career-best seven pins, six technical falls and two major decisions. He was an All-OAC second team selection, NCAA Division III All-Region 4 honoree and a NCAA Division III national qualifier. For his career, Bauer ranks tied for 12th on the school's all-time wins list with a record of 112-50.  He tallied 18 technical falls, 18 major decisions and 15 pins.  Bauer was a two-time All-OAC selection, two-time All-Region performer, two-time NCAA Division III national qualifier and an invitational champion.  Off the mat, he is a three-time Academic All-OAC honoree, three-time NWCA Scholar All-American, Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma and Dayton C. Miller Honor Societies.

Petrella, who carries a 3.98 grade point average in exercise science, earns his second career honor.  This season, he finished with a record of record of 25-4.  Petrella tied for fourth on the team with 11 pins.  He recorded six technical falls and a career-best three major decisions.  Petrella was an All-American, All-OAC second team selection and a two-time All-OAC Wrestler of the Week Award recipient. For his career, Petrella ranks tied for 51st on the all-time wins list with a mark of 68-12. He tallied 23 pins, 21 technical falls and five major decisions. He is a two-time All-American, two-time OAC Wrestler of the Week Award winner, two-time All-Region performer, two-time national qualifier and two-time invitational champion. Off the mat, Petrella is a two-time Academic All-OAC honoree, two-time NWCA Scholar All-American, 2025 College Sports Communicators Academic All-American, 2025 CSC Academic All-District selection, Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society.

Scordos, who carries a 3.202 grade point average in business administration and marketing, earns his second career accolade. This year, he posted a record of 27-10 with a career-high 10 pins, five major decisions and four technical falls.  He was an All-OAC first-team selection. For his career, Scordos ranks tied for fifth on the school's all-time wins list with a record of 122-46.  He has tallied 30 pins, 18 technical falls and 12 major decisions. Scordos is a two-time All-OAC honoree. Off the mat, he is a two-time NWCA Scholar All-American.

West, who carries a 3.600 grade point average in accounting, garners his third career honor.  This season, he was second on the team with 36 victories and a record of 36-5.  West was third on the team with a 13 pins.  He recorded seven technical falls and four major decisions.   West was an All-American, All-OAC first team selection, three-time invitational champion and the OAC Wrestler of the Week on December 15.  For his career, West ranks tied for ninth on the school's all-time wins list with a record of 119-36.  He tallied 43 pins, 21 technical falls and 15 major decisions. West is a five-time invitational champion, three-time All-OAC first team selection, three-time All-Region performer, three-time NCAA Division III national qualifier and an OAC Wrestler of the Week Award winner. Off the mat, he is a three-time NWCA Scholar All-American and Academic All-OAC honoree.

Supers, who carries 3.278 grade point average in business administration, earns his third career accolade.   This season, he led the team with 39 victories and a record of 39-3. Supers led the team with 11 technical falls and a career-best 10 major decisions. He tied for team lead with a career-high 14 pins. Supers was an All-American, All-OAC first team selection, two-time Ohio Athletic Conference Wrestler of the Week Award recipient and a two-time invitational champion. For his career, Supers ranks 11th on the school's all-time wins list with a record of 114-17.  He has recorded 32 pins, 30 technical falls and 21major decisions.  Supers is a six-time invitational champion, four-time OAC Wrestler of the Week Award winner, three-time All-OAC first team selection, three-time All-Region performer, three-time NCAA Division III national qualifier, two-time All-American and the 2025 NCAA Division III 165-pound National Runner-Up. Off the mat, he is a three-time NWCA Scholar All-American.

Hoffman, who carries a 3.605 grade point average in pre-allied health and pre-physical therapy, garners his first career honor. This year, he compiled a record of 20-12 with a career-best eight pins, five technical falls and two major decisions. Hoffmann was an All-OAC second-team selection. For his career, Hoffman has a record of 47-26 with 14 technical falls, 13 pins and five major decisions. Off the mat, he is a two-time NWCA Scholar All-American, Academic All-OAC honoree and a Dean's List student.

McChesney, who carries a 3.417 grade point average in sport management, earns his first career accolade.  In his first season in Berea, he compiled a record of 28-9 with eight pins and five major decisions.  McChesney was the 285-pound champion at the Adrian (Mich.) Invitational on November 1.

Shelley, who carries a 3.411 grade point average in business administration, garners his second straight honor.  This year, he had a career-best 26 victories and a record of 26-9.  Shelley tied for the team lead with a career-high 14 pins.  He tallied four technical falls and career-best tying two major decisions.  He was an All-OAC second team selection, All-Region 4 honoree and NCAA Division III national qualifier.   For his career, Shelley has a record of 49-19 with 16 technical falls, 15 pins and four major decisions.  Off the mat, he is a two-time NWCA Scholar All-American.

Vanscoy, who carries a 3.418 grade point average in nursing, earns his second straight accolade.   This season, he was third on the team with a career-best 33 victories and a record of 33-8.  Vanscoy was fourth on team with a career-high 11 pins. He recorded a career-best five major decisions and a career-high tying two technical falls. Vanscoy was an All-American, All-OAC first team selection, NCAA Division III All-Region 4 honoree and NCAA Division III national qualifier. For his career, Vanscoy has compiled a record of 46-17 with 15 pins, five major decisions and three technical falls.  He is a two-time invitational champion.  Off the mat, Vanscoy is a two-time NWCA Scholar All-American.

McWilliams, who carries a 3.333 grade point average in engineering, garners his first career honor.   This year, he compiled a record of 22-11 with eight pins, four technical falls and four major decisions.

Moser, who carries a 3.200 grade point average in business administration and finance, earns his first career accolade.  This season, he compiled a record 22-8 with seven pins, three major decisions and two technical falls.

The Yellow Jackets finished the 2025-26 campaign with a record of 12-6 and an undefeated record of 6-0 in the OAC.  BW won its sixth straight OAC Championship, finished seventh at the NCAA Division III Championships and was the runner-up at the NCAA Division III Region 4 Championships.
