BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University softball team swept Oberlin College in a non-conference and Seniors' Day doubleheader on the BW Softball Field inside the Roehm Athletic Complex.
In game one, BW (20-10) scored four runs on nine hits as it plated three runs in the third inning and one in the seventh on the game-winning double by senior first baseman
Avery Curran (Kitchener, Ontario, CANADA/Resurrection Catholic). Oberlin (17-17) scored three runs on six hits as it pushed one run across the plate in second inning and two in the third.
At the Plate
- Junior All-Ohio Athletic Conference left fielder Sam Peterkoski (Berea/Berea-Midpark) went 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored
- Curran went 2-for-3 with the game-winning double, run batted-in (RBI) and walk
- Freshman shortstop Morgan Palos (Elyria) went 2-for-4 with an RBI
In the Circle
- Senior right hander Katie Barnhart (North Ridgeville) won her eighth game of the season as she allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits with a career-high six strikeouts and one walk
In game two, the Yellow Jackets scored eight runs on 12 hits as they plated one run in the second, three in the third, one in the fourth and three off the blast by junior designated player
Lexie Vaillant (Bowling Green/Perrysburg), who is this week's OAC Hitter of the Week. The Yeowomen scored four runs on nine hits as they pushed all four runs across the plate in the third.
At the Plate
- Peterkoski went 2-for-4 with a stolen base
- Curran went 2-for-4 with two runs scored one stolen base
- Junior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC third baseman Mia Maddamma (North Royalton) went 2-for-3 with an RBI and stolen base
- Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC center fielder Steph Mraz (Strongsville) went 2-for-2 with three runs scored, two RBIs and a walk
- Four other BW hitters had a base knock highlighted by the three-run homer by Vaillant

- Sophomore righty Breckyn Daniel (Berea/Berea-Midpark) earned her ninth win of the season as she allowed four runs on nine hits with three strikeouts and no walks
The Yellow Jackets close out the regular season on Saturday, May 2 when they host a non-conference doubleheader against crosstown rival Case Western Reserve University at 12 p.m.
