Men’s Lacrosse Picked Up Where They Left Off in Win Over Mount Union

BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's lacrosse team defeated the Mount Union Purple Raiders by a score of 25-4 in an OAC matchup on Tressel Field inside of George Finnie Stadium. 

BW (10-3, 4-0 OAC) began the matchup on Tuesday, March 31 leading the Purple Raiders 7-0 before the game was suspended due to severe weather. The Yellow Jackets were led by senior attack/midfielder Reichen Geiselhart (Cranberry Township, Pa. / Seneca Valley) and senior All-OAC attack/midfielder Jake Koonmen (Fairport, N.Y.) who each scored five goals. Koonmen had a career-high game while Geiselhart tied his career best. 

The Purple Raiders were led by Sly Sundown, AJ Vasilko, Alec Feigel and Vinny Marszalek who each recorded a goal. 

1st Quarter (7-0 BW)
  • Senior attack/midfielder Reichen Geiselhart (Cranberry Township, Pa. / Seneca Valley) led the Yellow Jackets with three goals 
  • BW won the ground ball battle 11-1
  • Junior attack/midfielder Noah Dodgion (Hilliard/Davidson) and senior All-OAC attack/midfielder Nate Hoover (Worthington) each gave out an assist

2nd Quarter (14-0 BW)
  • When play resumed, senior OAC Offensive Player of the Week Bennet Trout (Pickerington/North) opened the scoring for the Yellow Jackets 
  • Senior All-OAC attack/midfielder Jake Koonmen (Fairport, N.Y.) tallied four goals, scoring all four consecutively 
  • Junior face-off specialist Evan Vetter (Cranberry Township, Pa. / Seneca Valley) went 7-8 in faceoffs

3rd Quarter (22-2 BW) 
  • Dodgion scored a hat trick in the quarter
  • Junior attacker Paxton Allison (Redondo Beach, Calif. / St. John Bosco) gave out his third assist of the matchup 
  • Junior Academic All-OAC attack/midfield Carson Grizovic (Walton, Ky./Walton-Verona) added two goals

4th Quarter (25-4 BW)
  • Freshman attack/midfield Griffin Riley (Hilliard/Hilliard Bradley) added a goal
  • BW outshot the Purple Raiders 16-5
