NEW ORLEANS, La. – Seven Baldwin Wallace University men's outdoor track and field student-athletes were named to the All-Great Lakes Region team by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
A student-athlete qualifies for this honor by being in the top eight of an event in their region, or by being a member of one of their region's top eight relay teams.
The Yellow Jackets that earned selections were junior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference distance runner
Sage Egan (Toledo/Ottawa Hills), senior All-American sprinter/jumper
Kaedan Faggs (Marion/Harding), senior OAC shot put champion
Mason Kiesel (New London/South Central), junior All-American thrower
Kitar Olsen (Whitefish, Mont.), senior OAC Champion
Sam Sikorski (Columbia Station/Columbia), junior All-Ohio hurdler
Samuel Skor (Columbia Station/Columbia), and junior All-American jumper
Amari Waddy (Fort Campbell, Ky.).
Egan earned his selection to the All-Great Lakes Region team with his personal best 3000m steeplechase time of 9:28.07 at the All-Ohio Outdoor Championships. This finish earned him All-Ohio honors. He also earned PRs in the 1500m run (4:06.88) and the 5000m run (15:21.22) this season. Off the field,
Egan is an Academic All-OAC honoree, a Jacket Scholar, and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society.
Faggs tied for the best long jump of 7.41m (24' 3.75) in the Great Lakes Region. He qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships with this mark and will compete later this week.
Faggs earned All-Ohio honors and became the long jump OAC Champion this season. The jumper will make his fourth career NCAA Championship appearance to conclude his collegiate career.
Kiesel earned All-Great Lakes Region honors with his season-best 16.39m (53' 9.25") shot put. He also earned personal records his senior season in the hammer throw of 48.38m (159' 9") and in the discus throw of 43.22m (141' 9").
Kiesel was named the OAC Champion in the shot put at the OAC Outdoor Championships with a 16.25m (53' 3.75") put. Off the field, he is an Academic All-OAC honoree, a USTFCCA All-Academic honoree, and a dean's list student.
Olsen was third in the Great Lakes region with his hammer throw of 57.66m (189' 2") at the Sparky Adams Invitational. This throw also qualified him for the NCAA Outdoor Championships where he will compete in the hammer throw later this week.
Olsen was named First Team All-American following the NCAA Indoor Championship weight throw competition in March with an 18.37m (60' 3.25") throw. Off the field,
Olsen is a dean's list student, a USTFCCCA All-Academic athlete, and an Academic All-OAC selection.
Sikorski was named All-Great Lakes Region after placing top five in the 800m run this outdoor season. His season-best time was 1:52.81. He also earned first place in the 4x800m relay at the OAC Outdoor Championships with a time of 7:41.35 to be named an OAC Champion. Off the field,
Sikorski is a Jacket Scholar, a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society, and a USTFCCCA All-Academic athlete.
Skor earned all-region honors after his season-best 400m hurdles time of 54.32 seconds qualified him for this selection. He also earned the 10
th-best time in the region in the 110m hurdles this season with a PR time of 14.85 seconds. This season,
Skor was named Outdoor All-OAC and All-Ohio.
Waddy tied for the best high jump in the Great Lakes Region at 2.07m (6' 9.5"), which he earned at the OAC Outdoor Championships on May 1. This height made him an OAC Champion and put him at No. 12 in the nation. He competed in the NCAA Indoor Championship in March and had a 2.06m (6' 9") jump to be named First Team All-American.
Waddy is set to compete in his second national championship later this week.
