#10 Baseball Falls to Ohio Northern; Winner-Take-All OAC Championship Set for Tomorrow

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The second-seeded Baldwin Wallace University baseball team was unable to clinch the Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament championship, losing to Ohio Northern University by a score of 12-7 at Rafeld-Rogers Field, as both teams will play tomorrow in a one-game winner-take-all playoff.

The Yellow Jackets struggled on the mound, allowing 12 runs, which was their third-most runs allowed in a losing effort.

Bottom 1st - Junior second-basemen Carson Petrecca (Willowick/Eastlake North) started the scoring off for BW with an RBI single for his first RBI of the tournament
Bottom 1st - Sophomore left fielder Mario Escano (Broadview Heights/North Royalton) hit an RBI single himself to put the Brown and Gold to within one after a rough first inning
Bottom 3rd - Petrecca hit a two-run shot well over the right center field wall as the Yellow Jackets tied the game up at 4

Bottom 6th - Junior first-baseman Ryan Gordon (Strongsville) had a sacrifice fly to left center with the bases loaded to once again cut the Brown and Gold deficit to one after ONU scored a run in the top half of the inning
Bottom 9th - Junior catcher Mason Fixx (Canonsburg, Pa./Canon-McMillan) had a single up the middle to score a run while down to their final two outs

At the Plate

Petrecca was 3-for-5 at the plate with four RBI, including a solo home run; his bat picked up after going 1-for-7 in the first two games of the tournament
Escano was a solid 2-for-4 at the plate, which included an RBI single in the bottom of the first
Fixx finished the day going 2-for-5 with two singles

On the Mound

Sophomore right-hander Michael DelDuca (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) came on in relief with two outs in the first inning and went 3 ? innings, allowing one run, striking out three, and allowing only three hits
