BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer team defeated former Ohio Athletic Conference foe and cross-town rival John Carroll University by a final score of 4-2 on the turf of George Finnie Stadium to earn their fifth win of the season.
The team was led by forwards
Addison Francis and
Kalyn Rich who each scored two goals to lift the Brown and Gold over the Blue Streaks. Their fifth win tops the entire 2025 season total of four, reaching the mark before the start of OAC play thanks to an outstanding offense of four goals, the most they've scored this season.
Game Recap
The Yellow Jackets started things off on a strong note. Rich scored the first goal of the game less than two minutes in to give the Brown and Gold the advantage. For the next 28 minutes, it remained a 1-0 contest until Rich connected once again to make it a 2-0 lead in favor of BW, the second game in her career in which she has had multiple goals and the first since her freshman year. For the remainder of the half, the Brown and Gold held the two-goal advantage heading into the break.
After the intermission, the Yellow Jackets fired from all cylinders, scoring their third and fourth goals in the first five minutes of the final half, both from Francis. The goals were the first two of her career and were both scored from the right hand side of the net. From there on out, the BW defense was able to hold the Blue Streaks, though they did score goals at the 68th and 77th minutes of play.
The Brown and Gold took 11 shots, including five from Rich.
Mackenzie Butcher was the starting goalkeeper, earning her third victory of the season.
The Matchup
Tonight's contest was the 22nd meeting between the Blue Streaks and Yellow Jackets since 2008.
